For the second time in the last three seasons, the North Hills varsity softball team has claimed a section crown.

The girls came into this week needing two victories in section play to take first place outright in Class 5A Section 1. Defeating Oakland Catholic on Monday meant they were guaranteed at least a share of the title. The victory over Penn Hills on Thursday ensured that North Hills would be alone at the top of the standings.

Now, with a 9-1 section record and a 13-2 overall record, the varsity softball team is just over a week away from beginning postseason action. The regular season will conclude next week, then the girls will await their seed in the 5A tournament and their opponent in the first round.
